A layer of memory for your journal
Memory is coming in version 2.2, now awaiting App Store approval. It will carry the context you choose to record across chapters and revise its understanding as life changes. The journal can become more than a growing stack of entries.
Built from the moments you choose to write down
A check-in can stay as simple as a feeling. When you add a note, a detail worth keeping can become part of Mental's memory layer. That memory stays connected to the moment it came from.
Memory is not a transcript of everything you have ever written. Not every check-in creates a memory, and most moments do not need a new conclusion.
One understanding that can change
A later entry may confirm a detail, refine it, or replace an older understanding. Memories are not confined to one chapter of the journal. What mattered in an earlier part of your life can remain available without making an old assumption permanent.
When Mental notices a possible pattern, it should offer something to consider, not declare what your experience means.
You have the last word
You can correct a memory in your own words or tell Mental to forget it. A correction takes precedence over the app's earlier wording. The layer is there to help you revisit your life, not to become an authority over it.
Availability and privacy
Version 2.2 is awaiting App Store approval. Memory is not available in the current public version of Mental.
Memory requires Mental Pro and your separate consent for optional AI processing. When enabled, selected note content is processed to build or revise memories. You can turn that processing off. The privacy map and privacy policy describe Mental's current data paths.
Start with a small check-in
The memory layer begins with the same simple practice as the rest of Mental. Explore the emotion grid to find a word for this moment, or read the mood-tracking guide if you are just getting started.
